Volunteers

Raleigh residents turn to Duke Raleigh Hospital for a warm, personal touch. Our volunteers have always been a special part of the personal touch. Even back in 1978, before we'd opened our doors, one hardy soul offered to organize emergency room supplies and stock the gift shop.

"All of the people I've met here--volunteers and staff--have been wonderful. And I like the variety of things I do. There are so many different projects." -Gretchen Clifton, Volunteer

Special Individuals

Today we have a large corps of dedicated volunteers working all over the hospital, and we couldn't do it without them. Their work is integral to the operation of many departments, and their enthusiasm boosts the morale of the patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Your Special Talents

People volunteer at Duke Raleigh Hospital for lots of different reasons and come from a myriad of backgrounds, but they all have at least one thing in common. They all volunteer in positions where they can use their special talents, learn new skills and do the things they like to do. Each summer 14-17 year old high school students join our volunteer team. This provides an excellent opportunity for students to interact with healthcare professionals and learn in a medical environment. "Volunteering makes me feel good. I enjoy meeting the public and the employees.and I'm still learning-even after 10 years!" Rachel Wheeler, Front Desk Volunteer

The Right Job For The Right Person
