The Diabetes Treatment Center at Raleigh Community Hospital is hosting a free lecture series in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month.
The series begins on Wednesday, November 7th, with a talk on Meal Planning and Nutrition. Sharon Pendergast, Registered Dietician, will provide tips on meal planning and will review the basics of carbohydrate counting. The lecture will also provide an explanation of the glycemic index. This lecture will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the RCH Education Classroom, 3325 Executive Drive.

The second lecture, Yoga and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, is on Thursday, November 15. Julie Kosey, MS, Certified Yoga Instructor, will introduce techniques that can be used at home and work to improve the health of the body, mind and spirit. Individuals attending this lecture are asked to please wear workout clothes and bring a towel or mat. Co-sponsored by Lifescan, this lecture will be held in the Cardiac Rehab building at Raleigh Community Hospital, 3301 Executive Drive.
