Raleigh Community Hospital is the first and only Wake County facility to offer regional patients a more comfortable and accurate diagnostic test for heartburn through the Bravo™ pH Monitoring System.
Physicians have traditionally used an uncomfortable and inhibiting diagnostic technique to diagnose patients suspected of having acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The traditional technique involves a catheter that is attached to a monitoring device on the patient’s belt. The catheter wraps around the patient’s ears and travels through the nose and into the esophagus. This method often causes nasal discomfort as well as the embarrassment of going in public with a visible catheter in the nose.
