Friends of Nursing: An award for excellence in nursing

Every day nurses touch many lives. Nurses play multiple roles including caregiver, patient advocate, educator, counselor, and friend. The well being of every patient depends on nurses. Yet, nurses sometimes do not receive the rewards and recognition they deserve. For this reason, the Friends of Nursing program was created. This endowed program's mission is to reward and recognize excellence in nursing and provide affordable educational opportunities for nurses.

One way Friends of Nursing carries out this mission is through yearly awards for excellence in nursing practice. Awards include an educational stipend, recognition within Duke Raleigh and a presentation at the annual Friends of Nursing Gala each fall. Nurses employed at Duke Raleigh may be nominated for an award by patients and/or their families, by other nurses, or by colleagues in the health profession. This is your opportunity to recognize a nurse who exemplifies nursing excellence.
