About the Diabetes Center

The Diabetes Center opened its doors at Duke Raleigh in August 1988 and is staffed with Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Dieticians (RDs) who are all certified diabetes educators (CDEs). Our staff stays current on state-of-the-art diabetes treatments and equipment. We were the first in the Raleigh area to institute an insulin pump program.

The Diabetes Center is an excellent resource for people with any type of diabetes at any stage of the disease process. Our staff are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm by appointment only.

Patients must have a physician’s referral to attend classes or have an individual consult.  It is important we work directly with the patient’s physician to formulate a plan of care.
