Oct. 21, 2002 For Immediate Release

Flu season is upon us, but no need to worry, the Rolesville Elementary School Community Health Fair is offering flu shots for only $15.00 along with a number of other FREE health screenings on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Rolesville Elementary School Gymnasium.

Screenings available at the fair will include vision, blood pressure, step test and nutritional assessments. Participants can also learn about health-related services in their area. A bi-lingual nurse from the Raleigh Community Hospital Diabetes Treatment Center will also be present to provide helpful information about diabetes diagnosis and management.

Sponsored in part by Raleigh Community Hospital, the fair is a part of the year-long health education program, RAH for Rolesville (Really Awesome Health) at Rolesville Elementary School.

In this third year of the RAH program, Raleigh Community Hospital has teamed up once again with the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education and Rolesville Elementary School to provide excellent and interactive health education for students, staff and parents of Rolesville Elementary School. The goal of the program is to provide health education at an early age to help in the prevention of illnesses and absenteeism and to develop life-long, healthy habits.

Raleigh Community Hospital is a 205-bed-acute-care facility located one block north of the beltline on Wake Forest Road in North Raleigh. Raleigh Community Hospital is part of the Duke University Health System. A full-service acute care hospital, RCH’s range of services includes a 24-hour Emergency Department, Intensive and Critical Care, Child Birth Center, Rehabilitation, Newborn Hearing and Screening, diabetes Treatment Center, Senior Health Center and community education.
