Here are some things to consider before you come for surgery at Duke Raleigh Hospital:
  • The most important thing is to know your medical history. This includes all your current medications, their dosages, all previous surgeries, and any problems with anesthesia.

  • Complete the patient history form enclosed in the packet. Bring this with you for your pre-testing appointment (if applicable) or on the day of your scheduled procedure. Please use the Admitting entrance located just past the Emergency Room entrance on the side of the hospital.

  • Plan to spend an hour with us if you are scheduled for a pre-testing visit. Lab testing, EKG assessment, and anesthesia workup may be completed during this time. Please bring your medication bottles with you when you come for pre-testing.

  • Bring a list of any questions or concerns you may have.

  • It is very important that your surgeon has current contact information on the day of your procedure -- this includes cell phone numbers and hotel information.
