Visiting Hours and Information

volunteer.jpgIf you have a friend or loved one at Duke Raleigh Hospital, the following information may be useful to you when planning to visit or send encouragement:

Visiting Hours

Visitors play an important role in a patient’s recovery, but the health and well-being of our patients comes first. Please do not visit a patient if you have a fever, severe cold, flu, or any other illness.

Regular visiting hours at Duke Raleigh Hospital are 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Stays should be brief so others may visit, but most importantly, so your relative or friend can rest.

If you wish to stay with a patient overnight you must obtain a visitor’s badge from the nurse’s station where the patient is located. Overnight visitors must be at least 18 years of age and must renew privileges each night.

Patient Information

Please call 919-954-3126 to receive information about a patient condition. Those individuals making an inquiry must provide the hospital with a patient’s full name before a condition report can be released, in accordance with the American Hospital Association Guidelines and HIPAA guidelines.

Condition definitions

  • Good: Vital signs are stable and within the normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
  • Fair: Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
  • Serious: Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
  • Critical: Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
  • Undetermined: Patient awaiting physician assessment.
