Dr. William Lawrence

William Lawrence Jr. is a board certified general pediatrician who completed undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and medical school at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine (now Wake Forest University SOM).

He completed pediatric residency training and served as chief resident at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He has practiced general pediatrics in community settings in Winston-Salem, NC and Washington, DC. He has held academic appointments at Wake Forest University, The George Washington University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. He served as Medical Director for the Children's Health Centers-SE in Washington, DC, from 2001-2004. He served the State of NC as an employee of the NC Division of Medical Assistance (NC Medicaid) for just over four years, where he assumed the capacities of Medical Director, Deputy Director, and finally Acting Director.

He joined DUHS in January 2009 where  serves as the Wake County Medical Director for Duke Primary Care and also as a clinician in the Healthy Lifestyles Program.
