Providing Tools for Better Quality of Life

Diabetes can be serious if left untreated, but the Diabetes Center at Duke Raleigh Hospital is here to help.

The Diabetes Center is a comprehensive service providing diabetes self-management training to individuals with diabetes. Our team of certified diabetes educators work directly with your health care provider to create the best plan to improve and maintain your blood glucose control.

A series of group classes and individual consultations are designed to integrate medication management, diet, exercise, and stress management into your lifestyle.

It is important that we work directly with your health care provider to formulate a plan of care. For this reason, patients must have a physician’s referral to attend classes or have an individual consult.

About the Diabetes Center

Since opening in 1988, the Diabetes Center has been an excellent resource for people with any type of diabetes at any stage of the disease process. We were the first in the Raleigh area to institute an insulin pump program and continue to provide state-of-the-art diabetes treatments and equipment.

The Diabetes Center is staffed with registered nurses and registered dietitians who are all certified diabetes educators.
