Cardiovascular Center Diagnostic Tests

Effective treatment for heart disease relies on evaluation that’s both accurate and timely. Duke Raleigh Hospital offers access to the latest diagnostic tests and procedures.

Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Among the advanced diagnostic tools at our disposal is our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization facility, featuring a flat-screen monitor that provides remarkably crisp images of the heart and its blood vessels. This technology helps our physicians accurately assess your individual cardiovascular needs.

Echocardiography

Our physicians and technicians are experts in the use of echocardiography, a non-invasive imaging tool that visualizes key anatomical details to reveal the condition and functioning of your heart.

Ankle-Brachial Index

Peripheral vascular disease, which affects as many as one in every eight Americans, poses particular diagnostic challenges, as it can occur in blood vessels throughout the body.

Through simple tests, such as the ankle-brachial index, and a variety of imaging technologies, our doctors can identify blood vessel blockages in the aorta, kidney, and legs, as well as in carotid and cerebral arteries that supply blood to the brain.

Cardiac MRI

Thanks to our close partnership with Duke Medicine, we offer access to one of the most powerful new diagnostic technologies in cardiovascular care: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Within Duke’s cardiovascular magnetic resonance center, cardiologists and scientists who are leaders in cardiovascular MRI can see into the cellular structure of the heart to evaluate the health of cardiac tissues after heart attacks, surgical repairs, and other events.

Cardiac CT

Cardiac computed tomography (CT) is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that creates 3-D images of the heart chambers and arteries to help diagnose and evaluate coronary and vascular disease.

Duke Medicine has led the development and use of multi-slice cardiac CT technology, which combines ultra-fast CT imaging with angiography to produce high-resolution images.
