Whether serving someone with special needs or someone simply looking to develop a healthier lifestyle, the Cardiac Rehab and Wellness Center is fully equipped to meet individual needs through a variety of specialized programs.
Cardiac RehabilitationCardiac Rehab offers a twelve-week outpatient program for patients seeking cardiovascular risk management. The program includes supervised exercise, risk factor modification, education and counseling by highly skilled professionals and is certified by the state of North Carolina. Patients enrolled in this program must have physician consent. Cardiac rehab graduates can continue to improve their health by taking advantage of the Cardiac Rehab Maintenance program. Structured exercise and educational programs are offered, as well as annual fitness reassessment and exercise prescriptions. Other benefits of the program include on-going counseling and professional supervision. For other specific conditions or needs, such as heart disease, stress management, osteoporosis, cancer recovery, arthritis, diabetes, trauma and stroke; there are a variety of wellness programs offered. Expert professionals provide quality care to patients requiring inpatient or outpatient occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology. The Wellness CenterThe Wellness Center offers assorted programs geared toward creating healthier lifestyles with the medical knowledge and resources of Duke Raleigh readily accessible. A 12-week weight loss program, Lose to Live, provides a multidisciplinary team who works with individuals on making permanent lifestyle changes. Included in the program are fitness testing, exercise programming, nutrition counseling and stress management. Other programs offered include adult fitness, yoga and aerobic classes. Adult Fitness is a general exercise program for those who are free of high-risk medical problems. It includes strength training by skilled professionals, cardio respiratory conditioning and initial and follow-up assessments. The exercise programs offered consist of:
