Rolesville Students Get Energized!
Rolesville Elementary School students will be “getting energized” at the kick-off for year three of the “RAH! for Rolesville: Really Awesome Health” education program on September 26. Because North Carolina youths are four times as likely to be obese,* this year’s program will begin with a focus on the importance of physical activity.

RCH Pain Clinic Gets New Space
Patients suffering from chronic pain now have better access to the Raleigh Community Hospital Pain Clinic. The clinic has moved out of its former two-bed location in Same Day Surgery, into a new, larger location. The new clinic has three treatment rooms that can accommodate as many as 25 patients a day.

Special Diagnostics Vascular Lab Receives Recognition
Raleigh Community Hospital Special Diagnostics Vascular Lab has attained recognition for its commitment to providing a high level of patient care and quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease. The lab received accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) effective June 19, 2002.

New Insulin Delivery System at Raleigh Community Hospital
The Diabetes Treatment Center at Raleigh Community Hospital is benefiting patients with a new piece of equipment - the Glucommander. This technology is a computerized system that resolves hyperglycemia through automated administration of IV insulin. The Glucommander system is accurate and efficient in calculating complex and rapidly changing insulin orders and benefits the patient by a less complicated hospital stay.

Raleigh Community Hospital Introduces New Service
Patients can now benefit from the only full-service Gastrointestinal Program in Wake County at Raleigh Community Hospital. The program incorporates a relatively new procedure, the Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). EUS combines the techniques of endoscopy and ultrasound examination to obtain images and information about various parts of the digestive tract through a less invasive procedure than surgery.

RCH Opens Expanded Emergency Department
Raleigh Community Hospital opened its doors to a newly expanded Emergency Department on Thursday, December 6th. Physicians and hospital staff came to the Open House from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to see renovations that nearly doubled the ED square footage.

Brush Those Pearly Whites
Students at Rolesville Elementary School will receive special training in dental health this month. Sheriff Tuffy Tooth will visit the kindergarten classes on Thursday, February 15 from noon to three in the media center. Sheriff Tuffy Tooth, a specially designed "Talking Tooth" will interact with the children, teaching them about proper dental care.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month Lecture
The most preventable form of cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women. Each year, lung cancer kills more people than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined.
In honor of lung cancer awareness month, Raleigh Community Hospital (RCH) is hosting a community program and lecture on lung cancer and smoking cessation. Topics will include the latest in lung cancer diagnostics, surgical options, smoking cessation and will conclude with a panel discussion.

A Pep Rally for Health
Rolesville Elementary students will get a pep rally on health education on Friday, September 22.
Raleigh Community Hospital, the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education and Rolesville Elementary School have teamed-up for the year to help provide excellent, interactive health education to the students, staff and parents of Rolesville Elementary School. On Friday, the program will officially kick-off first through fifth grade students. The Poe Center will outline the essence of good health, including a healthy body, good nutrition, exercise, dental health, rest and a positive attitude, using a pep rally theme.
